Wise Bread is yet another good blog about living within your means. I’ve been checking out WB for a few weeks now. I’ve got to say, it still amazes me how much money I can save on little things – and how much it all adds up. For example, I’ve been keeping track of how much I’ve been spending on lunch at work. Since April 24 (eight work days), I’ve spent almost $100 on eating out. Not good. I need to go to the grocery store and once I do, it’s time to bring back the brown bag. Anywho, check out Wise Bread for some solid budgeting advice.

"Dow's streak ties record from 1927..."
As The Butterfly and I get ready to start investing (woo, we're like, so grown up), I'm obviously pleased that the market is doing well. That said, I'm finding it very disturbing that inequality continues to grow, the dollar's not exactly dominating, and instability is still hanging around...and nobody's mentioning it. It's boomtime!! Bull market!! Dow 36,000!! The market was doing wonderfully in 1927 while inequality and uncertainty was being swept aside...and what happened in 1929?
UPDATE, 10:04pm - Then again, I just found this. So somebody is looking at history. I appreciate that.

Don't Shop for a Year

Here’s a great story about a group of friends that didn’t buy anything new for one year except medical needs, food, and toiletries - almost. Second-hand purchases were allowed, since the original goal of their little experiment was battle consumerism. Saving money was just an added bonus. Good read with some good ideas.

Rich Doesn't Equal Smart???
Smart = income. Yes. Smart = wealth. Uh, no. Relationship may actually be negative for a lot of folks. All the details and statistics, if you choose to believe them. Next they’ll be telling us high SAT scores don’t make people superior and people with grad degrees can screw up a country bad.

CYA With The IRS
If you’re like me you have good intentions to start your taxes early, but never quite get around to them till the last minute. In my 11th hour scramble, I always convenience myself that I massively messed up and will be getting that dreaded call from The Man telling me I’m going to be audited. Well over at Get Rich Slowly, they have a good blurb on some common IRS red flags. I’m definitely going to have the tips by my side as I frantically prepare my returns on the 14th.

More Inconvenient Truth
This is guaranteed to get your weekend off to a wonderful start. It really does look like, with global warming, Baby Boom degeneration, fiscal pileup, corrections population explosions, and our collapse as a legit world leader, the next decade or three may be as volatile as anything this country or this planet has ever seen. Not that you would ever notice from what the media or our Top Tier bloggers focus on. Sometimes I just want to spend weeks at a time apologizing to The Boy.
