Watching the show as I type and as it's lapsed into one of its silly periods. This post will be short, just to alert you that this summary of "Ugly Betty," ABC's version of "Betty La Fea" and "La Fea Mas Bella," sounds less and less like it will actually be a version after all. They've apparently thrown in a murder mystery and a love triangle with Betty, joining the widowed father, the disappearing fiancee, the new sister and nephew as yet more elements that the originals did not need nor have. It's clear now that ABC has just taken the "ugly girl in beauty industry" idea from the classic and moved it into a typical sitcom setting. Maybe it will still be okay, with America Ferrera drawing excellent reviews so far, but I think it's safe for fans of the originals or the current remake to dump it as another drawing board from Hollywood suits. I'll watch the first episode and let you know, but it's not looking good. Certainly not missing an episode of "La Fea Mas Bella" to see. Geniuses, these suits.
