TX is making its move to become the nation's top energy producer in another area--wind power. It's now No. 1!!!, taking CA off the top. No big surprise since the state is the nation's top producer of wind. . . . Vermont just saw what hopefully might be the shape of things to come as a five-day, 49-mile march to demonstrate against global warming, organized by author Bill McKibben. . . . From a more conservative perspective, 3 SC Repub politicos, known for working for late Governor Carroll Campbell, have signed on to work for Environmental Defense, an org trying to bring more conservatives to the cause but also counting as a member Teresa Heinz Kerry. They're looking for business- and market-oriented approaches to dealing with global warming, as opposed to regulation. Don't scoff. Once some doctors stopped crying about "socialized medicine" and started moving toward Medicare on doctors' terms, momentum built quickly. Large negatives came later, as we know now, but at least the program got done. Same thing could, could, happen here. We'll follow it.
