TUESDAY PIRATES RANT™!! Best 33-61 Team in the League!!

Out of respect for a few different things, the Rant will not be much of a rant this week:

a) Buck O'Neill is suiting up one last time. I'd have preferred they do this when it wasn't like the hottest, muggiest day in recorded history...he is 94 after all...but hey, he's suiting up and I'm thrilled...even if it is a silly stunt.

b) We are in the middle of the most optimistic 2-week period of the season for Pirates fans--the two weeks of trade rumors that make you think you're getting a bunch of really good prospects for your random shouldn't-have-been-here-in-the-first-place players. The week that follows is called the "Oh, They Couldn't Get David Wright For Kris Benson, So They Settled For Ty Wigginton Instead?" Reality Check, or OTCGDWFKBSTSFTWIRC for short.

c) The Pirates officially experienced their best week of the season...posting an All-Star-Game-shortened week of 3-1. That's cause for celebration, right?

Oh, and just in case you're thinking I've been half-assing the last couple of Rants™, fear not. Once the aforementioned OTCGDWFKBSTSFTWIRC takes place, there will be a Rant™ of which you've only dreamed. Just you wait.



UPDATE 8:33pm - Apparently in observation of a Rantless Tuesday, the Pirates are losing 12-2. I've learned my lesson. Tuesday will never go rantless again.
