Weather, Water, Energy 2-08-07

Don't get a lot of CO2 storage articles at all, so two in one day . . . woohoo!! This one details an MIT study of aquifer storage, and this one a French energy scheme to pump it into now-empty gas fields. Don't want to be too skeptical of these efforts, but you're always afraid that they will feed the "don't worry about it" crowd when, in fact, they're still too few and far between. . . . Yet another UN agency links extreme weather and global warming and calls for prep. Now. . . . ID power company claims small enterprises cranking out wind power actually cost the company money and threaten to cause government to promote more coal-fired power. How conveeeenient, eh? . . . While out West, let's give note of WA state's sudden realization that OR and CA are blowing by it in proactiving action against global warming. Good discussion of the politics and mechanics of developing non-emission energy policy and does a nice comparison of the state to each of the others on vehicle emissions, renewable energy, and greenhouse gas caps. . . . Finally, let's end with a joke. The Busheviks are claiming that Georgi and his crew have always prioritized global warming and done a lot more than the wussy Europeans, by golly. It is to laugh, oui?
