Eww...

...what happens when you (I guess) combine supposed quality with album sales as criteria for a Best Of list? Bad things. Really bad things.

Via Salon, I find this Rock and Roll Hall of Fame "Definitive 200" list of albums. First of all, pet peeve of mine...any list that has the overrated Sgt. Pepper over the astoundingly good Revolver is most likely a pretty crappy list. But that's only the start. Supernatural over Born to Run? Bad. Metallica over Songs in the Key of Life? Worse. Come on Over #21?? Jagged Little Pill #26??? Are You Experienced? and Revolver barely ahead of Slippery When Wet and Boston and not even in the Top 40???? Ugh. These people are the chief celebrators of rock and roll? How hard are these lists to make, really?
