I don't want to over-generalize...

...but I think it's somewhat fair to say that some of the people who support this...

...a quiet movement to lower the legal drinking age to 18 is taking root as advocates argue that teenagers who are allowed to vote and fight for their country should also be able to enjoy a beer or two.
...due to this logic...
“Just like during national Prohibition, the law has pushed and forced underage drinking and youthful drinking underground, where we have no control over it.”
...and belong to...
...Libertarian groups and some conservative economic foundations...
...are some of the same people who believe in laws banning abortion despite the fact that underground abortions will persist and...
...according to the 2000 estimates (WHO), 19 million unsafe abortions take place each year. According to WHO, approximately 68,000 women die annually as a result of complications of unsafe abortion; and between two million and seven million women each year survive unsafe abortion but sustain long-term damage or disease (incomplete abortion, infection (sepsis), haemorrhage, and injury to the internal organs, such as puncturing or tearing of the uterus).
Again, I don't want to over-generalize, but...yeah, I was surprised that they used that logic. Color me impressed.
